I personally find shaving to be a timely chore with little reward. In the winter season, my legs are left feeling slightly raw and in need of a serious moisturizing creme-post shower. And not to mention, I don’t seem to achieve a close shave. The next day I am digging around for a new razor in hopes of getting the fleeting silky smooth leg. So once again I am taking extra time in the shower to shave my legs…when I would rather have an extra 20 minutes of sleep!
As a massage therapist, I often hear from my female clients, ” sorry, my legs are prickly”. Which makes me realize that many other people are suffering from the not so silky shave syndrome as well! I also notice my male clients faces go through bouts of razor burn and flaking skin in the winter due to the harsh elements and daily shaving regiments.
If you suffer from razor burn, and a not so close shave, you have to try this nurturing shaving creme recipe. It is easy to make, with pure ingredients and can be scented to your liking. Which is an excellent option for those with sensitive skin. Your skin will feel smooth, silky and moisturized post shave! A great shaving creme for people with tight schedules! No extra time needed to take away the alligator skin and treat the razor burn. It just doesn’t happen. This shaving cream is silky and slippery with a light lather. Don’t expect mounds of foam when you apply to skin but a nice creamy layer of goodness!
1/4 cup Olive Oil, Almond Oil or Coconut Oil
2-3 TBSP Shea or Cocoa Butter
1/4 Cup Aloe Gel or Honey
1 TBSP White Cosmetic Clay or Bentonite Clay ( Optional)
2 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 Cup Castile Soap
Vitamin EÂ ( to preserve )
10-20 drops Lemon Essential Oil ( Optional )
10-20 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil ( Optional )
This recipe will make approximately 6 oz…or the size of a wide mouth short mason jar. If you don’t want to make it yourself, contact Kiva Therapeutics Apothecary and we will ship you a jar for $10 plus shipping and handling.
For your convenience, I have posted links to Amazon where you can purchase all the specialty items needed to make this balm. I did not put a link for baking soda however, because most kitchens will have a box of it around. If not, it is easy to pick up at the local store.
